A gardens is a three dimensional art form which is designed to be experienced by being within it and as part of it. Therefore the dynamism and versatility of the moving image is, arguably the most effective medium with which to represent gardens and garden history.
As a horticulturist, garden designer and garden historian Toby has experience of working on both sides of the camera, as a
presenter and both developing concepts and as consultant
to various award-winning series.
On screen he and Kim Wilde presented HTV’s award nominated 8-part series The Great Garden Guide in 2003, previous to which he hosted two series of Lost Gardens for Channel Four (1999 and 2001), and joined the design team on ITV's Better Gardens (1999.)
On DVD Toby presents Your First Garden Made Easy
(2006) the first in a series of how-to DVDs from the Made Easy brand.
Oh! And on BBC Radio 4, Toby was conceiver of, and major contributor to the 6-part landmark series, The British Garden (2004.)
