Hi I bought your book; Courtyard Gardens in my former home town New Orleans. It is a dream book. There were photos of Japanese gardens that so inspired me I bought the book to save for a future garden.
One feature I loved most was the sparse grouping of single stalks of black bamboo on pages 32 and 34. I would like to do the same thing in our very small garden about five long stalks coming out of the slate path and nearby bed of low growing plants. We live in the sandy coastal area of Haarlem in the Netherlands. I hate to impose on your time and expertise but if possible could you tell me how I could plant single stalks of black bamboo such that they do not die or multiply?
Regardless I am fan and will enjoy looking at your book for many years.
